The Secret Waterfall Trail: An Adventure Exclusive to Desa Eko Guests

What if a paradise straight from the Garden of Eden was just a few steps from your door? At Desa Eko, it is. While our misty mountain views are captivating, the true secret to our location lies hidden in the valley below: a lush, rambling nature trail connecting not one, but five breathtaking waterfalls.

This trail isn't just an activity we offer; it's the very reason Desa Eko exists.

The Story Behind Our Location

When our founder, Matt Oullette, was searching for the perfect piece of land back in 2015, he was shown many plots with incredible vistas. "In some parts of Munduk, you can see both mountains and the coast," Matt recalls.

But then I saw this place, which has direct access to the nature trail. Ten years have passed since the first time I went down there, but I’ll never forget that moment. It was pure joy, like walking through the Amazon— lush jungle and roaring waterfalls, each one bigger than the last.

Amazed that this natural wonder remained untouched and private, he knew he had found the perfect spot. He built Desa Eko not just to overlook the beauty, but to be a gateway to it.

Your Adventure Begins Here

Your journey starts at our riverfront yoga deck. From there, a private path descends 350m into a vibrant jungle filled with massive bamboo plants, tropical red flowers, and overhanging vines.

Your first destination is the Golden Valley waterfall. This stunning 10-meter cascade tumbles into a natural swimming pool at its base. It's the perfect spot for a refreshing—if a bit chilly—dip! There's even a small café nearby to rest and soak in the scenery.

From there, the trail continues for 1.3km, rising and falling across two charming, rickety wooden bridges until you reach the magnificent Red Coral waterfall. This 30-meter giant cascades over a sheer rock wall carpeted with green tropical plants. The pool at its base is larger and shallower, making it an even better spot for a swim.

Choose Your Path: Guided or Self-Guided

The full trail is a beautiful 2.88km loop, and you have two ways to experience it:

  1. Explore on Your Own: For the adventurous spirit, you can follow the trail at your own pace, discovering each waterfall's unique charm as you go.

  2. Take a Guided Tour: For the ultimate hassle-free experience, we highly recommend booking a tour with one of our accredited local guides.

Our guided tour is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the experience. For $60 per person, it includes:

  • An expert local guide to share insights about the flora and fauna.

  • All entrance passes to the waterfalls.

  • A pre-arranged car to bring you comfortably back to Desa Eko at the end of your trek.
