Imagine waking up, not to the noise of the city, but to a symphony of nature—the calls of birds and the gentle murmur of a river. As you open your eyes, a light mist blankets the lush green valley before you, revealing a magical view of the mountains. This isn't a dream; this is morning at Desa Eko, Munduk.

Bali is often synonymous with beaches and crowds. But far away in the cool highlands of North Bali, another world awaits. A place where nature still reigns supreme, and tranquility is the ultimate luxury. It is here, in the cloud-kissed village of Munduk, that Desa Eko was born.
We could tell you all about the beauty of our home, but perhaps it’s more meaningful to hear it from those who have experienced it. Not long ago, we had the honor of being visited by Dave Smith from The West Australian, one of the region's most influential travel publications.
He summarized his experience with an extraordinary review, concluding with this:
"The food here easily earns five stars. But when you add the amazing views, professional service, the luxury tents and the tranquillity of it all, Desa Eko breaks the mould in terms of authenticity, architecture and experiential tourism. I have reviewed, at a guess, more than 100 hotels in Bali but this is the first time I am giving a place six stars. Bravo."
This "six-star" recognition is a reflection of every detail we have curated with all our hearts for you.
Unique Accommodation: Sleep in Nature's Embrace
The stay at Desa Eko is designed to bring you closer to nature without sacrificing comfort. One of our guests' favorite accommodations, and the one featured by The West Australian, is our Deluxe Tent.

As he described it, the tent feels like it's "cut straight out of The Jungle Book"—a house-shaped canvas tent on an elevated wooden platform with a thatched roof. Its large picture windows frame 180-degree misty mountain views, which you can enjoy from your private balcony. Inside, you will find a comfortable queen bed, wooden furniture, and warm, cozy decor.
Located 1500m above sea level, Munduk's air is cool and refreshing (dropping to around 17°C at night), so there is no need for air-conditioning. While some of our bathroom facilities are shared, we ensure they are always kept to the highest standard of cleanliness, being "meticulously clean" and "nothing like the shared bathrooms in backpacker hostels." For those who prefer more privacy, we also offer a studio unit with a private outdoor bathroom and soaking tub.
A Taste of the Garden: The Botanist Restaurant
Your journey at Desa Eko isn't complete without experiencing the culinary delights at The Botanist, our restaurant housed in a gazebo-style bamboo edifice. Here, your meal is served with the same breathtaking valley views.

Our philosophy is simple: to serve pure, organic, healthy, homemade soul food. Most of our ingredients are picked directly from our own permaculture gardens and coffee plantation. Enjoy a silky-smooth pumpkin soup, a seasonal vegetable curry in a creamy coconut sauce, or classic desserts like fried bananas with cinnamon sugar.
With affordable prices, The Botanist offers a five-star culinary experience that perfectly complements the tranquil, natural atmosphere.
